I was always the first one to break out of the cage. I was known as trouble; every time I got out I was swiftly put back. Days of mischief I seemed to be the instigator all the time. My brothers and sisters never wanted to go first. We were all the same, red and white puppies, four boys and three girls. We did everything together played, ate and drank. As we grew up and got bigger my bothers and sisters started to disappear one by one. People came to look at us, they peered over our cage picked one of us up and left. Me I was the last one, nobody seemed to want me; I did not understand why; I gave them the puppy dog eyes sat up cocked my head to one side, but I was never picked!

Then my day came, a big person with a rough voice put me in the back of a big tin with wheels, whoo hoo finally I was going somewhere. I did not know how long I was in the tin with wheels but it felt like forever. I was busy trying to imagine all the good things that were going to happen. Then suddenly we stopped and the human came to the back picked me up, put me on the side of the road, he got back in the tin and left without me.

I was stranded on a road, lots of tins with wheels came past, I ran across the road because it seemed safer

as there was another dog in a big house with wire all round .I found a small place to sleep next to a big wall with plants all around, I would be safe here for now. I stayed here for a long time the day turned to night then it became light enough for me to see again. I was cold and hungry, I wondered if the big person would come back for me, was it a mistake? Did he put me down so I could wee or do a poop? I would not do that on the tin with wheels because I wasn’t a bad dog and I knew that I would be in trouble if I did. Did he forget to pick me up? Thing’s would get better for me, I knew it deep down.

The very next morning I went to the next house as I heard voices of people maybe they would help me. I started barking and crying at the big metal bars, I knew these had to open so I could get in, unless I could squeeze myself through one of the gaps, I stretched up and pulled the weight of my whole body and tried to get through the gap. I did it I got in; I could not believe it that I had done it… I hid under a tree waiting for a person to come out, I would give them my best puppy dog eyes they wouldn't be able to resist me. A little while later I heard the big metal bars open , I shot up ran to the wall and sat down waiting , a female person got out of a tin with wheels she saw me and drove me back outside to the road. I sat outside the big metal bars and waited, then the female and a male came of the big house they looked at me , spoke to each other and went back inside.
